Meet the Directors!

Adam Hibbeler, Director
Adam Hibbeler serves as Director of Peninsula Bay Cities. He has been involved in camping and recreation for over 30 years. Adam, along with Greg Schneider, co-founded the program in 1995. He has served on the American Camp Association (ACA) local Board of Directors and on various educational conference committees. Adam, and his wife Heather, are dedicated to enriching the lives of children through the camp experience. Together they operate Peninsula Bay Cities Day Camp, Swim School and the Sierra Sleep-Away camp program at Bass Lake.

Heather Hibbeler, Director
Heather Hibbeler has been working in the camp field since 1994. She is a graduate of UCLA, with a B.A. in Sociology and an emphasis in Social Psychology. Heather first attended a sports day camp and resident camps as a child. While attending UCLA she began working at Sierra Adventure Camps/Sierra Sleep-Away. In 2005, Heather became Executive Director. She has served as the Southern California Vice-President of the Western Association of Independent Camps and is also a member of the American Camp Association (ACA). In 2013, Heather and Adam merged both PBC and the Sierra Sleep-Away Camp programs. They have 3 children, ages 9, 12, and 15, who all attend camp!  

Brent Launer, Program Director
Brent, a big kid at heart, began working with Peninsula Bay Cities 2002 as a group counselor for the AdventureTrek program. He graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Parks & Recreation Management. While at ASU, Brent returned every summer to learn, enrich, grow, and be with his PBC family. He has been a group leader, van driver, archery instructor, lifeguard & swim instructor. In 2008,  Brent became Program Director, and now enjoys the opportunity to teach and lead the staff to help create a unique, fun, and safe environment for every camper. Each year he attends camp conferences, update courses, and webinars to continue his education in camping. Also, Brent began working with Sierra Sleep-Away program in 2009 where he now serves the Program Director. Brent is happily married to Mallory Launer, PBC's Swim Director.

Mallory Launer, Swim Director
Mallory is excited to celebrate her 6th summer with PBC! She is a graduate of Cal State Dominguez Hills where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology. Mallory then went on to receive her teaching credential in Physical Education at Long Beach State. She grew up playing soccer and always had a love for the outdoors, being active, swimming, and crafting. Camp was right up her alley! Mallory first joined the PBC team in 2008 where she worked as AdventureTrek Group Counselor for four summers. Mallory also spent 2 summers as a Group Leader on Sierra Sleep-Away prior to her returning to LAUSD as a full-time teacher. Mallory became the Swim Director in 2015 and is looking forward to another summer at PBC!
